What Can I Do With All This Pain?

In response to the recent tragedies throughout the world this week, particularly the three shootings and seven people lost, my church’s sermon today was so encouraging, exactly what I needed to hear, rooted in God’s word that I want to share it with you. I will post a video of the whole sermon as soon as it’s released. Below are my notes on how God was speaking to me this morning:

Today’s Scriptures

“Together as one body, Christ reconciled both groups to God by means of his death on the cross, and our hostility toward each other was put to death.”

“If My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land.”

Side note: God’s word=never-ending chocolate cake Don’t you love it when scripture is like chocolate-cake good? So fulfilling and delicious you can’t get enough. These verses are that good! I recommend reading the whole chapter!

In response to the racism and the policy brutality and the shootings, what do you with your pain?

You either express it and it goes out of control. Or you suppress it and it eats you alive.

You must give it to God because Christ is ONLY ONE who can carry your pain. On the cross he took all of the burdens we cannot bear.

We need the law. BUT our ultimate hope is not in law. Because the law does not legislate love. It does not make in your heart what it intends you to do. The law can never govern the heart. We need God, the only one who can change our hearts.

We can find unity in Christ. He reconciled the Jews and Gentiles. In Christ we have been made one!

Jesus carried the cross for EVERYONE! He did not die for himself. He died for all of us.

Eph 2:16 Everyone is at the foot of the cross because we are united bc we all want a holy god to save them. We have the opportunity to repent. And He reconciles us. He heals us!
